Overview
Axcient x360Cloud Inspector (Beta)
Axcient x360Cloud is a cloud-to-cloud backup product for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. The Axcient x360Cloud Inspector (Beta) connects to your x360Portal account with a single API key, discovers every x360Cloud Customer organization in your account (including organizations that aren't configured for protection yet), and reports backup health, protected users, and shared resources back into Liongard — so a failing backup or a user silently dropped from protection shows up alongside the rest of that Customer's Environment, without logging into the x360Portal.
What you can monitor
The Axcient x360Cloud Inspector collects backup and protection data for each Customer organization, including:
- Latest backup status and backed-up user, SharePoint site, and shared drive counts
- Protected and billable user counts, and per-service protection settings (mail, contacts, calendar, OneDrive, SharePoint, groups, archive mailbox)
- Every user and shared mailbox x360Cloud knows about, protected or not (including users deleted in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace), with protection flag, billing status, and latest backup status
- Every SharePoint site and Google Shared Drive, with protection flag and latest backup status
- Available seats on your not-for-resale (internal) organization
How it works
A parent launchpoint holds one x360Portal API key and discovers every x360Cloud Client organization in your account. Liongard creates a child launchpoint for each organization, mapped to its own Liongard Environment, and the API key is shared automatically — you never re-enter it per Customer.
Benefits
- Spot a Customer whose Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace backup has started failing before they notice a data-loss event.
- Confirm every protected user and shared resource is still selected for protection, and catch silent de-provisioning.
- Track available seats on your not-for-resale organization.
- See cloud backup health in the same place you track the rest of each Customer's configuration.
The Inspector ships with seven alert rules, listed in the Axcient x360Cloud Inspector Summary. All rules ship disabled — enable the ones you want.
Axcient x360Cloud is a separate product from Axcient x360Recover, which has its own Liongard Inspector. The two cover different assets and don't overlap.
Inspector Setup Preparation
Prerequisites & Access RequirementsTo configure the Axcient x360Cloud Inspector, ensure you have the following:
- An active x360Portal administrator account with x360Cloud enabled. Only administrators can create or view API keys.
- If you use a Self-Managed Agent, it needs outbound HTTPS (port 443) access to axapi.axcient.com.
Step 1: Create an Axcient API Key
- Log in to partner.axcient.com with administrator credentials.
- Select Settings in the main navigation menu, then select API Keys.
- Select Add API Key in the top right corner.
- Fill in the required details, make sure x360Cloud access is enabled for the key, and select Generate API Key.
- Copy the generated key and store it securely — it's shown only once.
Inspector Setup:
Step 2: Configure the Axcient x360Cloud Inspector in Liongard
- Log in to the Liongard platform.
- In Liongard, navigate to Admin > Inspectors > Inspector Types > Navigate to the Axcient x360Cloud Inspector > Select Add System.
Since x360Cloud is a multi-tenant system where a single x360Portal account protects many Customers, you'll set up a single "Parent" Inspector that will then auto-discover a "Child" Inspector for each Customer organization.
Fill in the following information:
- Type of Inspector: Parent
- Environment: Select your MSP's Environment
- Friendly Name: Suggested Naming: [MSP Name] Axcient x360Cloud Parent
- Agent: Select the On-Demand Agent
- Inspector Version: Latest
- Axcient API Key: The API key generated in Step 1
- Scheduling: The Inspector will default to run once a day at the time it's set up. Here you can adjust the schedule
- Select Save. The Inspector will now be triggered to run within the minute.
Step 3: Child Inspector Setup
After the first run of the Parent Inspector, every x360Cloud Customer organization in your x360Portal account (including any not yet configured for protection) will be auto-discovered and surfaced in the Discovered Systems tab on the Inspectors > Axcient x360Cloud Inspector page. Each organization maps one-to-one to a Liongard Environment. Liongard tries to match each organization to an Environment with the same name, so check each mapping before you activate. Child launchpoints are named Axcient x360Cloud - [Organization Name].
- Activate or Archive your Discovered Systems by ensuring they're mapped to the correct Environment > Check the checkbox to the left of Inspector(s) > Select the Actions drop-down menu > Activate Launchpoints (or Archive Launchpoints).
- Click Save.
Troubleshooting
- A Customer's Shared Resources tab shows no data: Check Shared Resources Collected on that Customer's Organization tab. If it shows false, Axcient didn't return that Customer's shared resources. This usually means your x360Portal account has lost reseller access to that Customer, or shared resources aren't available for it. Liongard treats this as an expected, non-fatal condition for that Customer rather than a launchpoint error: the rest of the inspection still succeeds, but the Shared Resources With Failed Backup alert can't evaluate for that Customer. If it shows true, the Customer has no SharePoint sites or Google Shared Drives in x360Cloud.
- One Customer's child launchpoint fails, but the Parent and other children succeed: The API key is fine. Your x360Portal account has most likely lost access to that Customer organization, or the organization was removed from x360Cloud. If the Customer is no longer protected, archive that child launchpoint.
- The Parent Inspector fails with a "status code 401" permissions error: Confirm the API key still exists in partner.axcient.com > Settings > API Keys — any administrator can delete a key. Regenerate and re-enter it if needed, and confirm x360Cloud access is enabled on the key.
Known V1 LimitationsRead-only monitoring — the x360Cloud API is read-only, so protection settings can't be changed from Liongard. Only backup metadata and counts are collected, not file or email content. Axcient doesn't publish API rate limits, so the inspector paces requests conservatively. No asset-inventory mappings ship with this inspector. Each Customer's Users list is capped at 10,000 entries, a count that includes users deleted in the source tenant, and shared resources are capped the same way. If a Customer reaches the user cap, Users Truncated shows true on its Organization tab, and user-based counts and alerts may be incomplete.
