Download the Liongard Agent

Download the right Liongard Agent installer for Windows, Linux, or macOS, with links that follow your organization's release train.

📘

Requirements

  • Export Agent permission to see Download Agent Installer.
  • For the Per-Environment Scripted Installer: the View Agent, Add Agent, View Environment, and Add Launchpoint permissions. If you don't see this section, contact Liongard support.
  • The Apple Silicon installer requires Agent 5.5.0 or later. The Linux ARM64 installer requires Agent 5.2.0 or later.

Overview

Every supported Liongard Agent installer is available from one place: Admin > Agents > Download Agent Installer. Each platform has its own window that lists every installer for that platform side by side, with a download button and a copyable command you can run directly on the agent machine.

Download links follow your organization's release train, so the agent you install is the same version your agents self-update to. A freshly installed agent doesn't immediately turn around and update itself.

Open the download menu

  1. Go to Admin > Agents.
  2. Click Download Agent Installer. The menu opens on click only; hovering does nothing.
  3. Choose Windows, Linux, or macOS.

Download Agent Installer isn't shown when you view the agent list from inside an Environment's details. Use Admin > Agents instead.

Which installer do I need?

PlatformInstallerUse it when
WindowsEXE (Enhanced Network Discovery)You want Enhanced Network Discovery on this agent. The EXE installer is required to set it up.
WindowsMSIYou're installing a standard Windows agent, including through Group Policy or an RMM.
Linuxx64The machine runs 64-bit Linux on an Intel or AMD processor.
LinuxARM64The machine runs 64-bit Linux on an ARM processor, such as AWS Graviton or a Raspberry Pi on a 64-bit OS.
macOSIntelThe Mac has an Intel processor.
macOSApple SiliconThe Mac has an Apple M-series chip.
🚧

Match the installer to the hardware

  • macOS: Apple Silicon installed on an Intel Mac installs, but the agent shows as offline. To check a Mac, open the Apple menu > About This Mac. A Chip entry means Apple Silicon; a Processor entry means Intel.
  • Linux ARM64: 32-bit operating systems, including 32-bit Raspberry Pi OS, aren't supported.
  • Windows: Only x64 is supported. There is no Windows ARM installer.

Download an installer

Each platform window has a section for every installer. Each section includes:

  • A Download Installer button that downloads the file to your computer.
  • A snippet under Or use this snippet to download directly to the agent machine. Click the copy icon to copy it; the icon shows Copied for two seconds.

On Windows, the snippet is a PowerShell Invoke-WebRequest command. On Linux and macOS, it's a curl command.

File names include the agent version, for example LiongardAgent5.5.0.msi, LiongardAgentInstaller5.5.0.exe, LiongardAgent5.5.0-arm64.xz.run, and LiongardAgent5.5.0-arm64.pkg. The Linux window also reminds you to run the installer with sudo.

Click the info icon next to a window's title for a short description of the installer and a link to that platform's deployment guide:

Download links follow your release train

Download links come from your organization's release train, set under Company Settings > Agents. If no release train is set, links follow Long-Term Support (LTS), the Liongard default. A release train set on an individual agent doesn't change which installer is offered for download.

Liongard only offers builds that can actually install: each one has a published version and a verified checksum. If an installer can't be offered, its section is disabled and shows one of these messages:

  • "This installer can't be used right now: [reason]. Contact Liongard support."
  • "No installer is published for your organization's release band yet. Check back after the next agent release."
📘

Using download links in RMM scripts and KB articles

Download links now include the release train and version in the path, for example a link ending in lts/5.5.0/LiongardAgent5.5.0.msi. If you copied the older fixed -lts links into RMM scripts or internal documentation, copy the current link from the app when you update them.

The Set Update Schedule window, the agent page, and Company Settings > Agents show this note: "Release train and scheduled update options apply to agents on versions 5.5.0 or higher." Older agents still install and run; they just don't use release train or update schedule settings until they reach 5.5.0.

Use the Per-Environment Scripted Installer

The Per-Environment Scripted Installer generates a script that's pre-configured for one Environment. Run it on a machine, or drop it into your RMM, to install the agent into that Environment with no manual configuration.

  1. In the Windows, Linux, or macOS window, expand Per-Environment Scripted Installer.
  2. Under Environment, pick the Environment. There's no default.
  3. Under Installer, pick the installer. This field stays disabled ("Select an environment first") until you pick an Environment. Installers that aren't available show (not published) or (unavailable).
  4. Liongard generates the script right away. You'll see Generating script…, then Script generated successfully. If you see Failed to generate script: [reason], click Retry.
  5. Click Download PowerShell Script (Windows) or Download Bash Script (Linux and macOS).

Changing the Environment clears the installer selection, so you can't download a script for the wrong Environment.

Every generated script verifies the installer's SHA-256 checksum before running it. The Windows EXE (Enhanced Network Discovery) script also sets up Enhanced Network Discovery.

🚧

This installer script is fully authenticated and contains credentials necessary for agent installation in the selected environment

Each time you generate a script, Liongard creates a new agent access key for it. Generate scripts only when you need them, store them in a secure location, and remove them from systems after use to prevent unauthorized access.
