Agent Update Windows
Overview
An update window is the daily window during which your Self-Managed Agents are allowed to install updates. Without one, Agents update whenever they are eligible, which can be during the business day.
Requires Agent 5.5.0Update Schedule selection appears in the Liongard UI starting September 16, 2026, but only Agents running 5.5.0 or later can act on it. If your Agents are on an earlier version, this setting has no effect until they update. See Agent Auto-updating for the upgrade path.
Setting an Organization-wide Window
Go to Company Settings > Agents and set ORGANIZATION UPDATE SCHEDULE to Any time or Set window with a start and end time. Requires Admin group membership and the Edit Agent permission.
Setting a Window on One Agent
Go to Admin > Agents, click the Agent's name, and set UPDATE SCHEDULE:
- Follow organization default
- Any time (ignores the organization default)
- Set Window
Requires the Edit Agent permission. Not shown for On-Demand (Liongard-Managed) Agents.
Setting Windows in Bulk
Go to Admin > Agents, select the Agents you want to update, and choose Set Update Schedule from the Actions menu.
Local Time, Not a Single Moment
The window is applied on each Agent's own local clock. An organization window of 02:00 to 04:00 means 2am local to each machine, so Agents in different time zones update at different absolute times. This is intentional.
Windows Cannot Cross Midnight
The end time must be later than the start time. 22:00 to 02:00 is not a valid window. If you want overnight updates, choose a window inside one calendar day, such as 00:30 to 04:00.
If an Agent Is Busy or Offline During Its Window
The Agent waits and tries again on a later heartbeat. An Agent running Inspections defers the update rather than interrupting them.
